Because would it really be true that Efteling is opening a new attraction in the Fairytale Forest, which is mainly about the children’s imagination? It could be: after all, there is a lot to be said for the complaint that children’s imagination is increasingly leaving much to be desired.

If the designer then reports that he designed the new attraction mainly with his eraser, things may start to dawn. An even clearer hint is the sheet music:

And for those who haven’t realized it yet: the new fairy tale opens ‘in four days’, according to the press release on March 28. According to good practice, the literal date of April 1 is avoided, but it is mentioned. The amusement park is no stranger to a bit of self-mockery: “A cost-efficient approach, a real win-win as far as I’m concerned,” says Efteling director Fons Jurgens.

Ring South in Groningen

Using (real) current events is yet another characteristic of an April Fool’s Day joke. In recent weeks there has been a lot of commotion about the large-scale approach to the Ring Zuid in Groningen, which will cause a lot of traffic nuisance to the city in the coming months. But thanks to this work, opportunities also arise.

It may be true that the entrance to the water cellar – which actually exists – can suddenly be reached temporarily under the ring. And let’s be honest: is it completely inconceivable that a contractor would want to give something back to the population to alleviate the nuisance caused by the work? And that the water has a very pleasant temperature thanks to the district heating pipes… that could also be true.

But is it really true that people can swim there for free once?

Anyone who believes it and is looking forward to a unique dive can register ‘on Easter Monday’. In swimwear, because there are obviously no changing rooms.

Sex sells

Not every joke is so well thought out. At the webshop Het Rotterdams Warenhuis they thought a little simpler. Sex sells. And they are in Rotterdam. Combine it with a pun and voilà: the Satisfeyenoord was born. Obviously it cannot be ordered yet, but you can express your interest in the pre-sale by email.

And there is even more news that we have our doubts about these days.

Almost April Fool’s Day joke

And okay, maybe this one doesn’t quite belong, but on the other hand: maybe it does… Without it being explicitly stated, the following video is clearly a joke. The only thing wrong is that it is not yet April 1st. An almost April Fool’s joke, this deepfake version of The Passion.
