Of the 155 induction hobs tested, this one is the best: each cooking zone has its own boost function Living

--

Consumers AssociationWhat is the best 60 cm wide induction hob? And which one has the best price-quality ratio? The Consumers’ Association provides an answer.

Induction hobs are available in various standard widths. Of these, 60 cm is the most popular. Models that are 60 cm wide usually have 4 cooking zones and no built-in extractor.

Are you looking for a model with 5 cooking zones or more? Or do you want built-in extraction? Then it is better to look at models that are 80 or 90 cm wide. The width of the glass plate can be a few centimeters larger or smaller than the standard width of 60 cm. The glass plate is usually slightly larger than the hole in your countertop (niche width). Check the actual dimensions and installation dimensions before purchasing the hob.

The Consumers’ Association tests different sizes of induction hobs. Induction hobs with built-in extraction are also tested. The test examines, among other things, cooking and baking, ease of use and energy consumption. In total, more than 155 induction hobs have been tested, which are reasonably to well available.

Of the 55 models tested in the 60 cm wide hob category, an AEG hob came out as Best in the Test. An Ikea model is the Best Buy.

Best in Test: AEG IKB6430SFB

Price: 462 euros
Test rating: 7.6
Niche width: 56 cm
Recommended connection: 2 phase connection

This AEG hob has 4 cooking zones, each with its own boost function. You can use the boost function, for example, to boil a pan of water extra quickly.

The hob is ideal for cooking with 4 pans at the same time. It offers sufficient space for the pans. And it also has enough power for all 4 cooking zones at the same time. Even if you use all 4 at full power.

The temperature also remains constant. This allows you to simmer something at low power for a longer period of time. And the touch controls also work well. You can also easily read all settings.

There are also some disadvantages. Grease stains are difficult to remove afterwards. And you cannot clean the plate while cooking. This is secured and then the record switches off automatically. In addition, the security could respond a little faster in the event of boiling dry. It takes a while for the temperature to decrease under an empty pan.

Best Buy: Ikea MATMÄSSIG (104.670.93)

Target price: 290 euros
Test rating: 7.4
Niche width: 56 cm
Recommended connection: 2 phase connection

This Ikea hob is a lot cheaper than the Best in the Test. It also has 4 cooking zones. 2 of these zones have a boost function.

Compared to the Best in the Test, this hob does quite well. The biggest difference is in the power. It is less powerful than the AEG. You will especially notice this if you use all cooking zones at the same time. But for an average chef it is fine.

Baking and cooking is pleasant and the temperature remains stable. And despite the limited power, there is enough space for 4 pans at the same time.

The plate is easy to clean and the keys respond well. Although you do have to press hard to adjust the power level. A disadvantage is that the plate makes quite a bit of noise during use.

Accountability
In this section we write weekly about household and technological appliances that have been tested by the Consumers’ Association. This is a collaboration between the independent editors of this site and the Consumers’ Association.

The Consumers’ Association tests thousands of products every year, together with qualified technicians in specialized laboratories at home and abroad. The products being tested are store-bought, so they are not pre-manipulated by manufacturers.

New models are tested as soon as possible after introduction. How fast that is varies per product. The Best in Test is the product with the best test rating. This could also be an older model, because a newer model is not always better. The Best Buy is the product with the best price-quality ratio.

The stated price of a product is the lowest current retail price as far as known to the Consumers’ Association. But prices may vary per day. If no recent retail price is known, the target price is mentioned.
