The extremely popular Kia Picanto was extensively facelifted last year and AutoWeek can now tell you what Kia’s small success should cost. The Kia Picanto has received a marginally higher starting price, although various versions are actually cheaper than before.

The Kia Picanto has been at the top of Dutch car sales for years. While one car manufacturer after another leaves the smallest car class behind, Kia dares to continue leading its successful A-segment car. The profit margins in this market segment are small and so it is not surprising that the now seven-year-old Picanto will not be completely replaced. Instead, the Kia Picanto was thoroughly facelifted last year. AutoWeek can now be the first to tell you what the updated Kia Picanto will cost in the Netherlands: just under 19 grand.

Kia Picanto: complete with a completely new face.

More expensive and cheaper

Kia asks at least €18,995 for the extensively upgraded Picanto. For that money you get the Kia Picanto with the only engine available in the model: the 63 hp turbo-free 1.0 DPi. This machine has been finely honed in various areas. The 1.0 T-GDI will not return. The starting price obviously applies to the Picanto with manual gearbox and the entry-level DynamicLine version. Before the facelift, a similarly designed and motorized Kia Picanto cost only €50 less. Certain versions of the Picanto are even slightly cheaper than before, which is quite special in 2024.

Choice stress

As mentioned, Kia always supplies the Picanto with the 63 hp and 93 Nm naturally aspirated 1.0 three-cylinder. It is available with the aforementioned five-speed manual gearbox, but also with a robotized five-speed manual gearbox. As before the facelift, only the four-seater Picanto is available with that transmission. However, Kia supplies the Picanto with manual gearbox with both four and five seats. The five-seat version is available – as DynamicLine – from €19,645. The four-seater version with a robotized manual gearbox will cost you at least €20,545. Is the DynamicLine too small for you? No problem. Regardless of the number of seats or the selected transmission, the Picanto is available as DynamicLine, DynamicPlusLine, ExecutiveLine and GT-Line.

Equipment

In the basic DynamicLine version, the Kia Picanto has air conditioning, an 8-inch infotainment screen with navigation and digital instruments. More pampering comes in the form of rear parking sensors and a reversing camera. This variant also already has systems such as Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Warning and Leading Vehicle Departure Warning, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, Lane Following Assist (LFA) and Forward Collision Assist (FCA) with vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian detection.

The DynamicPlusLine adds full-LED headlights with LED turn signals, privacy glass, alloy wheels, electrically folding exterior mirrors and a USB-C connection for the rear passengers. The ExecutiveLine continues with items such as heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, automatic air conditioning, a start-stop button and an induction charger. The sporty top GT-Line version is topped off with the more dynamic-looking GT-Line appearance, complete with 16-inch alloys and an LED strip on the front. Black leather-look upholstery, a sports steering wheel, a sliding/tilting sunroof and safety systems such as blind spot detection and rear cross-traffic assistance are also part of the GT-Line party.
