Maaike Ouboter and her boyfriend Karel have become parents of a little boy. “Our dear sweet son Maas was born on March 6,” Maaike writes on Instagram. Mother and child are doing well, despite Maas arriving earlier than planned.
The 32-year-old singer from Gouda announced her maternity leave on March 5, without knowing that the baby would arrive a day later. Maaike was due during Easter. “Now I’m not going to do anything in my cocoon, sleep, bake things, cook and watch series,” was her plan.
Now she says that she finds it ‘fantastic’ to experience parenthood. ‘We can’t stop looking at him and hugging him. Our world is very small for a while and we enjoy that immensely. Long live life.’
In 2013, Maaike Ouboter experienced a musical breakthrough through her participation in the program The best singer-songwriter in the Netherlands. With her number That I miss you she even scored a number 1 hit in the Single Top 100. That song was inspired by the loss of both her parents.
