Since November last year, it has been Table Together every Thursday at the Molenberg farm. It is a bull’s eye, because it has been full every week from the start. More than seven hundred diners have already joined us.
Just before Easter and therefore the start of the tourist season, it will be the last time for a while that people will eat at the long tables. But it is certain that people will be welcome again in September. Marcel Willemse is surprised by the success. “Last fall we heard signals that people wanted to dine together. So with winter coming we decided to set this up, with the aim of bringing the (lonely) elderly together.”
Willemse thought that it should be weekly, because according to him once a month is not enough. “Then people don’t get used to it.” And the weekly dining indeed turned out to take some getting used to. “We have room for about forty people per week. I thought it would decrease over time, but the opposite is true. We have now had more than seven hundred diners at the table.”
