New fire station and municipal works support center in Kloosterzande

A new fire station and a new support point for municipal works in Kloosterzande, that is the intention. The current buildings at Hof te Zandeplein will make way for housing. The new building will be located on the Hoek en Bosch industrial estate. The design of the building is ready. We ask the municipal council to make the necessary money available.

New design of the Hof te Zandeplein

The Hof te Zandeplein in Kloosterzande will be given a new purpose. The plan is to build 37 homes on the square. Of these, 22 are for social rent. Woongoed Zeeuws-Vlaanderen will build it. There will also be a square. The municipality hopes that this will develop into a true village square where all kinds of activities can take place. The municipal council approved this plan in February 2022. To realize the plan, the demolition of the current fire station and the municipal works support point is necessary. The municipality is redeveloping the Hof in Zandeplein in phases. Construction of the first homes started in January 2024.

Demolition and new construction of fire station

The fire brigade building and the municipal works support center in Kloosterzande at the Hof in Zandeplein are outdated. They no longer meet the requirements of today. That is why the municipality of Hulst is preparing new construction. The old buildings are being demolished. The new fire station and the municipal works support center will be realized on the Hoek en Bosch industrial estate. These facilities fit better there than in the middle of the village,
where they are now. The new building will be located at Hulsterweg 44 in Kloosterzande. This is next to the new construction of Weemaes Machinebouw.

The design

The design for the new building is ready. This was made in consultation with the Zeeland Safety Region, the volunteers of the Kloosterzande fire brigade and the employees of municipal works. The new construction costs approximately 3.2 million euros. The Council Committee on General Administrative Affairs will consider the proposal during its meeting of April 8, 2024. The intention is for the municipal council to make a decision on May 8, 2024.

Start execution

If the municipal council makes the necessary money available, work on the new building is expected to start in September 2024. The hope is that the building will be ready in the autumn of 2025.
