Seriously injured in stabbing at Oudezijds Voorburgwal shelter

Someone was stabbed several times at a shelter for the homeless on Oudezijds Voorburgwal around 8:15 p.m. The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries, a police spokesperson said.

According to a bystander, the victim was ‘operated’ on his injuries by medical staff at the shelter before he was rushed to hospital. A police spokesperson cannot confirm this. A second person was also injured, but has not yet been taken to hospital.
Suspect arrested
A suspect was arrested shortly after the stabbing. The three people involved are probably people who used the shelter.
The cause of the stabbing is being investigated.
