Municipalities of Beveland and Tholen will also have their own audit offices

The newly established audit offices of Borsele, Goes, Noord-Beveland, Reimerswaal and Tholen will conduct critical and independent research into the performance of the municipalities in various areas. They look at the effectiveness, efficiency and legality of municipal government.

The five audit chambers enter into a so-called ‘personal union’, which means that the members are members of all chambers. Kapelle is the only municipality in Beveland not part of the collaboration; it already has an audit office and works jointly with Middelburg and Vlissingen.

The recruitment committee for candidate members consists of five council members, supported by two council clerks and representatives of an external agency. The nominated audit chamber members are Arianne Metz (chairman) from Kwadendamme, Ilona Patenier from Koudekerke, Joost van Driessen from Kapelle, Alex Maas from Domburg and Hans Mulder from Zoutelande. The relevant municipal councils must still agree to the nomination.
