LEIDSCHENDAM – Statiegeld Nederland, part of Verpact, today kicked off a large-scale campaign called “Statiemonnie”, in collaboration with rapper Donnie. The aim of the campaign is to encourage consumers to recycle more plastic bottles and cans, fueled by Donnie’s well-known musical style.

Despite the fact that more than 95% of the Netherlands is aware of the existence of deposits on cans and plastic bottles, much of this packaging remains undeservedly unreturned. The focus of the campaign in 2024 is on converting this knowledge into behavior, using various media and communication channels, such as television, radio, social media and online platforms.

Jeroen Hillen, director of Statiegeld Nederland, emphasizes the importance of the campaign: “With the new campaign starring Donnie, we want to encourage consumers in a light-hearted way to hand in empty plastic bottles and cans. Because returned deposit packaging is processed back into raw material. We want to make Dutch people aware of the benefits of handing in; In addition to environmental benefits, you also get your Statiemonnie back!”

The campaign, developed by NOISE Amsterdam, focuses on removing obstacles that consumers experience when returning deposit packaging. Donnie plays a central role in the campaign, using a song and accompanying videos to convey the message. With “Keep bringing it back, Get Statiemonnie!” the public is urged to take action.

The “Statiemonnie” campaign will not only be seen on TV, radio and social media, but will also be supported by various PR activations throughout 2024.
