Golf center De Golferij in Eelde is bankrupt. According to curator René Luinstra, the company is the victim of another bankruptcy. He is working on a quick restart.

According to Luinstra, the company on Hoppenkampweg in Eelde employs five people. For the time being, the Golferij is open as usual. “The members can also go there to practice normally, they are not experiencing any inconvenience from the bankruptcy. The operation of the company will continue as usual.”

“The company could no longer meet its debt to other companies. They have received money from this to make investments, including on the course, in indoor golf and in sheds. Considerable investments have been made in recent years. Ultimately, those companies went bankrupt, but Golferij was unable to meet the repayment obligation. For this reason the company was declared bankrupt. So they actually stumbled over the problems of others, to which they had obligations,” says Luinstra.

Sponsor of Golferij went under

The bankruptcies he is referring to include those of ETT Media, which went bankrupt in March this year. That company produced guides and other publications for more than 300 municipalities. It collapsed due to a lack of staff and a debt dating from the corona period. ETT was also a sponsor of the Golferij. The ETT cluster included eight companies that have also been declared bankrupt, according to the curator.

“There are excellent opportunities for a restart of the Golferij. And discussions about this are already underway,” says Luinstra. “There are partners who would like to keep the Golferij. They clearly see music in the company.”

Beginners can get acquainted with golf at the sports center in Eelde. Possession of a golf skills certificate (GVB) is not required. They learn the strokes and can practice on the driving range, the various greens and the practice holes. Experienced golfers also use the facilities to improve their game. Small competitions are also played on the 5-hole course, which has a golf simulator for practice in bad weather.
