An explosive went off at the front door of a house in Notarisappelstraat in Amsterdam-Noord on Wednesday evening. This caused a fire, which was quickly brought under control. As far as we know, no one was injured. Shortly after the explosion, police arrested two suspects.

The police and fire brigade were alerted about the explosion and fire on Wednesday evening around ten to seven. Local residents heard a loud bang and immediately called the emergency services. Explosives appeared to have been attached to the front door of a home. When they went off, a fire briefly raged at the front door.

“We had a clear description of the two suspects running away in the street and were able to arrest them shortly after the explosion,” says a police spokesperson. “We are investigating their involvement.”

The police do not want to say anything about the age and identity of the suspects.

The residents of the house in Tuindorp-Oostzaan were present during the explosion. The police spokesperson cannot say whether or how extensive the damage to the home is.
