Once again I stood on the roof of the weather room. After yet another downpour in April, the water in the gutter no longer drained, it was clogged by twigs and dirt. To prevent leakage in the garage (my weather room), I went up. While ‘swiping the water’ I saw that the shed was also covered with a puddle of water. Not surprising with all those showers.

Baking against snails

I thought about my friends’ vegetable garden. I had done some work in them in mid-April and saw them busy with containers against snails. The containers were filled with beer and after 1 night there were already hundreds of slugs in them. It is a phenomenon that is currently driving many gardeners crazy. You plan something and the next day it’s completely gone. Snails and the abundance of water are not making it easy for farmers this spring.

May mildness

We haven’t had a single week of dry weather this year. In fact, a few consecutive days of no precipitation turned out to be virtually impossible. We seem to be continuing on this path more or less in the near future. Cold air over the British Isles causes low pressure areas and chills there. Above Central Europe, the air pressure rises and it is warm. The Netherlands is more or less on the border between both types of air and such a border often guarantees the passage of a number of showers. First it is spring-like warm, possibly seriously warm, later it seems to become a bit cooler from the sea. In any case, the April cold is over and it is time for May mildness.
