JVOZ previously worked with FC Twente and Sparta. The youth training club is happy with the new training partner. “What we notice is that the trainers are very positive about the collaboration. If you see what Feyenoord brings to our trainers, they learn a lot from it,” says chairman Eugene Fagg.

Coordinator Remco Heerkens of Feyenoord Academy also looks back on the past year very positively. “Because we work together very actively. Our colleague Danny Mulder visits JVOZ several times a month to support trainers. And on the other hand, we also get a lot in return, the knowledge we share with each other. You can say that JVOZ is a is a model club for us to work with because things are going very well vice versa,” he says convincingly.

According to Joshua van Dolder, one of the coordinators at JVOZ, the first year has indeed already yielded a lot, but the second year may be even more important. For example, JVOZ wants to move the ‘testing moment for the players’. The weekly evaluation will then no longer be held after the match in the weekend, but halfway through the training week. This way, points for improvement can be addressed before the match. “In practice, we hope that this will also result in more points during the matches,” said Van Dolder.

In the first year of collaboration, one talent was discovered who can go to Rotterdam. 13-year-old Aimy de Haze will play for Feyenoord’s MO16 from next season. Five boys were allowed to do an internship at the Rotterdam club this year, but a transition has not yet occurred. “We hope that more will follow, but we realize that the bar is really high at Feyenoord. And there are also some clubs in between. Feyenoord will not be feasible for everyone. The fact that a number of people can make that step is something we hope for,” says Van Dolder.
