To ensure that good ideas are not lost, the province of Utrecht makes subsidies available for projects that contribute to future-proof, sustainable and nature-inclusive agriculture.

Utrecht notes that many farmers have innovative ideas for their business operations, but lack the financial resources to further develop them. The new Cooperation for Innovation subsidy scheme from the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP 2023-2027) will therefore open on June 5. In Utrecht, the province is making 4.6 million euros available. The subsidy can be applied for for innovative projects that contribute to the improvement of working methods, products or services for future-proof and sustainable agriculture in the province of Utrecht.

Encourage innovation

Farmers face major challenges, as Utrecht also sees. ‘Goals in the areas of nature, water and climate require a change in agricultural management. A change that can also be achieved with innovative ideas. To get off the ground, these ideas often require collaboration between different parties. The subsidy is intended for the process of research and development: from idea to a proven working principle.’

Collaborating farmers

The subsidy can therefore be applied for for cooperating farmers or a farmer in collaboration with knowledge parties. The scheme focuses extra attention on strengthening revenue models for nature-inclusive circular agriculture. The experiences gained are shared with other farmers and agricultural companies.
