New Bergen | The day before King’s Day, on Friday April 26, twelve residents from the municipality of Bergen received a Royal Decoration. Mayor Michael Rauner personally presented these awards in the presence of the councilors, the secretary and the clerk. The decorated people, four men and eight women, were all appointed Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau.

Finally, it was Mela Splinter-Dupont’s turn for a well-deserved award

Mrs. Mela Splinter-Dupont from Well received a Royal Decoration for services in the field of tennis, residents’ interests and informal care. She has been a volunteer and board member since 2005 and is committed to Tennis Club Het Moleneind Well and the Wells Forum Well village council. I am also an informal caregiver for an 85-year-old widower whose children live abroad. In the past she was active in the Parents’ Association of St. Vitus Well Primary School.


Mrs van Soest-Klabbers still had to realize it a bit

Mrs Chris van Soest-Klabbers from Well received a Royal Decoration for services in the field of elderly welfare, charities and neighborhood cohesion. She has been a volunteer and board member since 1986 and is committed to the neighborhood association De Papenbeek Well, the Charities Week Well and Eetpunt De Buun in Well. In the past she was a board member and volunteer at (Youth) Carnival Association De Maasjoerts Well. She was also a volunteer for the Stomach Liver Intestine Foundation. She is also an informal caregiver for her granddaughter with a disability.

Mrs. Miranda Jacobs-Minten from Well received a Royal Decoration for services to informal care, carnival and performing arts. She has been a volunteer since 1991 and was active at the (Youth) Carnival Association De Maasjoerts Well and is a board member at Theater Club De BuunPlayers in Well. She is also an informal caregiver for her multiply disabled son.

Mrs. Diana Wijnhoven-Simons from Wellerlooi received a Royal Decoration for services in the field of football, carnival and village cohesion, among others. She has been a board member and volunteer since 1980 and is committed to Neighborhood Association ‘t Vinkenest in Wellerlooi and Football Association Resia ’42 Wellerlooi. In the past she was a board member and volunteer at the De Vrije Jeugd Wellerlooi Foundation, at the Carnival association De Jeugdkuluut in Wellerlooi and at the motorcycle and moped club De Loi.

Mr André van Heck from Wellerlooi received a Royal Decoration for services to football, village cohesion and youth welfare. He has been a volunteer and board member since 1998 and is committed to Football Association Resia ’42 Wellerlooi. In the past he was a board member and volunteer at Stichting Dag van Leeuwen/Wiellawaai in Beneden-Leeuwen and at Stichting Kindervakantiewerk Wellerlooi.

Carla received a ribbon and became a grandmother for the first time yesterday

Mrs. Carla Wijnhoven-Kepser from Aijen received a Royal Decoration for services in the field of music, religious life and carnival, among others. She has been a volunteer and board member since 1989 at Carnival Association De Sukerpins in Aijen, Fanfare les Montagnards in Bergen, Sint Petrusparochie Bergen and the Levensboom Foundation. Until 1997 she served as a board member of successively the Roman Catholic Education Foundation H. Petrus and the Foundation for Catholic Primary Education Bergen.

Mr Jan van Lin from Nieuw Bergen received a Royal Decoration for services in the field of public transport, welfare and animal welfare. He has been a volunteer since 1972 and is committed to the care organization Dichterbij, the Bergen Welfare Promotion Foundation, the Bergen BuurtBus Foundation and the Young Netherlands Foundation (Bergen department). He was previously also a board member of the latter. In the past he was a volunteer and board member of the Bergen Bird Asylum Foundation.

Mr Pierre Rutten from Nieuw Bergen received a Royal Decoration for services in the field of welfare, public transport and poverty reduction. He has been a volunteer since 1984 and is a board member and volunteer at the Bergen Welfare Promotion Foundation, Bergen Meeting Center, Bergen Buurtbus Foundation, Vincentius Bergen Foundation and Naoberschap Bergen Foundation. He is also an informal caregiver for his son. In the past he was a volunteer at RKVV Montagnards and a board member at the Augustinus Maria Roepaan Administration Foundation. In 2023 he was a volunteer at the emergency crisis shelter for asylum seekers in Bergen.

Mr Jan Rutten from Nieuw Bergen received a Royal Decoration for services in the field of religious life, carnival and public transport. He has been active as a volunteer and board member since 1982 and is committed to the Sint Petrus parish, De Garde van Ald Prinse, and as a volunteer at PUUR flowers and plants and the Buurtbus Bergen Foundation. In the past he was a volunteer and board member at Carnival association De Erdemennekes and neighborhood association De Zandberg.

Mrs. Lia Bouten-Vervoort from Nieuw Bergen received a Royal Decoration for services in the field of carnival, charities and religious life. She has been a volunteer since 1978 and volunteers for the National Association De Zonnebloem (Bergen department), the Bergen Meeting Center, the staff association De Vriendenkring and Epilepsie Nederland. She is active as a board member of the Garde van Ald Prinse Bergen and the Stichting Goede Doelen Week Bergen. In the past she was a volunteer at Dansgarde De Dennekes and the Sint Petrus parish. She was also a board member of the carnival association De Erdmennekes.

Mrs. Hennie van Hoof-Stoffelen from Afferden received a Royal Decoration for services in the fields of culture, elderly care and libraries, among others. She has been a volunteer since 1991 and is committed to, among others, the Mixed Singing Association Laetitia Afferden, Biblioplus, the Charity Week Afferden Foundation, the Foundation for the Promotion of Liveability for the Elderly Afferden and Afferden Samen Beter. Until 2007 she was also a volunteer at the Afferden Library. And until 2023 she was a volunteer at the village magazine De Knikkerkoerier in Afferden.

Mrs. Annemie Vullings from Afferden received a Royal Decoration for services in the field of religious life, elderly welfare and agricultural advocacy. She has been a board member and volunteer at Sint Petrusparochie Bergen since 2003. She is also a volunteer for, among others, the Foundation for the Promotion of Liveability for the Elderly Afferden and the Bergen Meeting Center and is a board member of the Agrifestijn Foundation. Until 2022 she was a volunteer at the Geitengeluk Siebengewald cheese farm.
