ProRail is starting a major job at Tilburg station today. As a result, no train traffic to and from the station is possible until Monday, May 13. The NS uses 150 buses to transport travelers.

The impact of the work is very significant, ProRail tells Omroep Brabant. “It is really annoying for the traveler. We combine activities as much as possible, so that it is really done afterwards.”

The work is the provisional final part of a years-long metamorphosis of Tilburg station. In 2015, the station received a new passage and the roof was renovated. In 2020 and 2021, two new bicycle sheds opened on the north and south sides. Over the next two weeks, the steep stairs will be replaced and the platforms and tracks will be given a makeover.

The job is not limited to Tilburg station. Work is also underway on the almost 3 kilometer long stretch of track between Tilburg and Tilburg University stations, as well as at Tilburg University station itself. This will include new paving, lighting, cameras and a new public address system.

Even more work

Apart from the work in Tilburg itself, ProRail will be working on the track between Tilburg University and Breda and between Tilburg and Vught over the next two weeks. There will therefore be no trains between Tilburg and Breda on Monday, May 13.

“This brings us almost to the end of ten years of renovation of Tilburg station,” says ProRail. Some work will still be carried out in the coming years, but it will be less visible and far-reaching to the traveler.

Amsterdam and Zwolle

ProRail will also start work on and around Amsterdam Central tomorrow. Until May 4, travelers between Amsterdam Bijlmer and Amsterdam Central Station must take into account transfers and a longer travel time.

In Zwolle, ProRail will be installing the bridge parts of the new wooden footbridge between the center and the south side of the city across the station next week. As a result, no trains run to and from Zwolle from Monday to Wednesday. A day later, trains to and from the station only run on certain routes.
