The former Eleanor in Middelburg has new tenants

Good news from Zeeland Catering Business: the former Eleanor on the Vlasmarkt has been rented again!

We don’t know much about the new operators and their plans yet, only that they are already active in the catering industry elsewhere in Zeeland. As soon as more is known, we hope to be able to update you, but we are happy to share this news.

Research: Retail vacancy in inner cities is rising again

Also because earlier this week there was a lot of attention in the media about vacant buildings in Dutch city centers. The reason was an investigation by Colliers.

Unfortunately, the study only included the thirty largest cities in the Netherlands, but it is still interesting to read. Certain developments can also be seen in Middelburg. At the same time, our city seems to be doing relatively well.

Of course, there are a few vacant buildings, such as the complex at Achter de Houttuinen, that have not been used for quite some time. These significantly increase the number of ’empty square meters’. There are also some smaller shops empty on side streets. But it’s not too bad here. And as we wrote earlier this week: more news soon, about new destinations for buildings in the center. We will report back when the permits are in place!
