In the third class A, De Meeuwen took the full three points for the second time in three days. After Tuesday’s victory over Zeelandia Middelburg, VCK won 0-3 on Thursday evening in Koudekerke.

Already in the first fifteen minutes of the game, De Meeuwen hit the crossbar. VCK then tried to control the match by using the long ball, but that failed. First, an own goal in the 45th minute led to a 0-1 deficit and in injury time in the first half, Robin Dek headed in from a corner to make it 0-2.

In the 62nd minute, De Meeuwen took advantage of a slip by VCK goalkeeper Joshua van Dolder. The goalie released the ball and Nino Cijvat signed for the 0-3.

For VCK, the seventh defeat of the season means that fourth place is out of sight. The deficit to Arendskerke is six points and VCK has also played one more game. De Meeuwen will play a crucial role in the title battle with matches against Luctor Heinkenszand (home) and RCS (away). “We want to finish as high as possible, in order to have the best possible starting position in the play-offs,” team manager Sjaak Lankhaar said on behalf of De Meeuwen.
