That is why the water board is working on the accessibility of cultural-historical objects. In the coming years, the priorities will mainly be for monuments that still have a function. These are often national monuments.

This applies, among other things, to the De Waterwolf pumping station. Last year it was already decided separately to take up maintenance of the roof of the Waterwolf. It has now been additionally decided to tackle the roof of the warehouse on Schaphalsterzijl and to improve the sanitary facilities in the warehouse on Schouwerzijl. In addition, a number of old locks near Veenhuizen need attention. The remaining approach to the Schaphalsterzijl and Aduarderzijl warehouses will follow in 2026 and 2027. Then it is also the turn of the lock at Noordpolderzijl. The general board has made €5.5 million available for this work until 2030.
