The 19-year-old from Sittard, who was arrested on Tuesday for involvement in the death of fellow townsman Xavier Durlinger (19), had a lingering conflict with the victim. This ‘battle’ has been captured on image and sound.
This is apparent from material in the hands of L1 and various conversations with those involved.

No contact
On Tuesday morning, suspect Luca M. was arrested at his mother’s home, in the Sittard district of Lahrhof. He is stuck in all the limitations. This means that he is only allowed to have contact with his lawyer, so that the suspect cannot frustrate the ongoing investigation or warn any other persons involved.
‘Don’t fuck Mattie’
The same Luca has been having problems with a group of young people for some time now. Among them also Xavier Durlinger. A video shows how Luca is forced to his knees in his underpants by other boys. “Don’t fuck Mattie, because this is what happens,” says one of the boys. Luca is forced to apologize to the group. Then the image stops.
Several witnesses state that Xavier was there when this video was recorded. According to them, the intention was to ‘tame’ Luca, as the group calls it when someone is put in his place.
never talk again
It is as yet unknown when and why the conflict arose. It is clear, however, that Luca and Xavier were by no means friends. In an audio clip, Luca says about Xavier, among other things: “I’ll kill that boy, cut my name on his stomach. My signature. He can never, never, never talk about me again.”
It is all the more striking that Luca was present during the silent march organized for Xavier on 25 May. Relatives of the victim decided not to say anything about it, so as not to disrupt the tribute to the victim.
Public information
L1 presented the content of the video and the audio fragment to both the police and lawyer Luuk Dacier, who assists Luca. Both parties indicate that they are not allowed to say anything about the case because of the restrictions. Police are also not saying anything about the cause of death at this time. This prevents any witnesses or persons involved from being influenced by public information.
