Liverpool supporters do not seem impressed by the impending appointment of Arne Slot as head coach. In the beIN Sports TV studio on Sunday, the question was raised as to how the arrival of the Feyenoord coach went down with the supporters. Underwhelmingis the conclusion.
Analyst Jason McAteer himself played for Liverpool between 1995 and 1999 and still has a warm heart for the club. “It came a bit out of nowhere,” he says about the choice of Slot. “He was constantly linked to Tottenham Hotspur last year and has always done well at Feyenoord.”

Other table guests draw comparisons with Erik ten Hag, who has not been very successful at Manchester United. “Everything I read about Arne Slot, I also read about Ten Hag. Everything,” says presenter Richard Keys, for example. McAteer has more confidence. “We have much better players than Man United.”
John Obi Mikel also has confidence in Slot. “I think he has done well at Feyenoord. His playing style is similar to that of Liverpool. Moreover, Liverpool of course has much better players.” McAteer is then asked how Slot’s arrival happened. “I don’t know if it’s a shock, but…” Presenter Keys adds: “Underwhelmed.” McAteer: “Yes, it is. But we say it often: there are just not that many available trainers.”
