FC Twente won 1-0 in the derby against Heracles Almelo on Sunday. After Myron Boadu’s winning goal, many players from the Enschede club expressed support for the departed Joshua Brenet. The players cheered as Brenet also celebrated his goals.
Club watcher Leon ten Voorde does not understand the expression of support for Brenet, who was sentenced to prison after twice driving without a valid driver’s license. “FC Twente has been keeping Brenet’s hands above its head for two years and there was a lot more going on than those players knew,” says Ten Voorde at The Balls of Mindpodcast from Tubantia.
“The club makes a right decision. Then I think it is an awkward gesture towards your own employer. You just shouldn’t do it, Brenet has had a lot of chances. It is just really inappropriate,” concludes Leon ten Voorde.
