Ajax coach John van ‘t Schip hopes that the striker ‘can play a role’ in De Klassieker against Feyenoord on Sunday. The 22-year-old club top scorer will be missing from the home game against Go Ahead Eagles on Thursday, but could possibly be part of the Amsterdam team’s match selection again three days later in De Kuip.
On the club website, Van ‘t Schip discusses in detail the status of the various injuries in his selection, starting with that of Steven Berghuis. “He has more or less been written off for De Klassieker,” the trainer explains. “He has been out of football training for five or six weeks and is not yet free of complaints.
