IDM final weekend in Hockenheim overshadowed by fatal accident

The first day of the IDM final weekend in Hockenheim was overshadowed by a fatal accident on Friday. A crash during the second free practice session of the IDM Superbike class resulted in a serious crash in which 24-year-old German Leon Langstädtler has now been announced.

On Friday afternoon, a serious accident took place at the Hockenheimring during the final weekend of the IDM. In the second free practice session of the IDM Superbike class, Leon Langstädtler crashed and suffered very serious injuries. The training was immediately stopped with the red flag and the program for the rest of the day was cancelled.

Langstädtler immediately received medical attention. Despite intensive efforts by the medics, the 24-year-old driver from Idstein succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

All organizations involved in the race weekend regret the tragic accident and wish the relatives and friends strength in these difficult hours.
