One of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 models has a battery that is comparable to that of the Watch 5 Pro. There is a good chance that this is a Galaxy Watch 7 Pro.
Galaxy Watch 7 with large battery: return of the Pro?
One of Samsung’s most striking smartwatches in recent years is the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. It is the watch with the largest battery of the complete series. It is therefore only logical that this ensures the best battery life of a Samsung Watch. But the Watch 5 Pro will have competition – or a successor – in the upcoming Watch 7 series.
Not so long ago, our colleagues from SamMobile wrote that Samsung’s Watch 7 series currently consists of three models: the SM-L30x, SM-L31x and the SM-L70x. This ‘line-up’ was of course immediately reminiscent of the Watch 5, which also consists of three models: two regular (40 and 44mm) and one Pro variant.
We can confirm that the Galaxy Watch 7 series probably has a similar structure based on information about the battery of the watch with model number SM-L70x. The battery with product number EB-BL705ABY has a rated capacity of 578 mAh. For comparison, the Watch 5 Pro has a rated capacity of 573 mAh. This ultimately results in an advertised typical capacity of 590 mAh, which will not be much different with the Watch 7 Pro.

At this time we do not yet know the battery capacity of the SM-L30x and SM-L31x models. There is a good chance that these will soon be the ‘regular’ Watch 7 variants, with a more modest battery. But we cannot confirm this today.
What we cannot definitively confirm is whether the Watch 7 with the large battery is indeed called Pro. Samsung is not always consistent with naming, after all. But the existence of three models, one of which has a remarkably large battery, certainly indicates that the South Koreans are in fact planning a new generation of the Watch 5 concept.
That is no coincidence. The Watch 6 was literally one refresh of the Watch 4 series. This was even confirmed by Samsung’s internal reuse of the code names Fresh and Wise. It should therefore not surprise anyone that the Watch 7 series will be a refresh of the Watch 5 – Pro model with extra large battery included.
