Scooter rider injured in accident 1e Wormenseweg; trauma helicopter called

APELDOORN – A scooter rider was injured in an accident on the 1e Wormenseweg in Apeldoorn on Wednesday afternoon. The scooter rider was transported to hospital by ambulance. One air ambulance called was cancelled.

Things went wrong around 2:30 PM at the intersection of 1e Wormenseweg and Marchantstraat. A motorist overlooked a scooter rider while turning, resulting in a hard collision. The scooter rider crashed into the side of the car. The scooter rider was injured. Emergency services responded en masse, including two ambulances and an air ambulance. The latter was deregistered. The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance. The motorist escaped unscathed.

Due to the accident, the intersection was partially closed to traffic for some time, but the road is now open again. Officers recorded a statement from the motorist and officers also spoke to several witnesses.

Both the car and scooter sustained significant damage in the accident.
