Two people were seriously injured on Thursday night in an accident on the A6 near Lelystad. As a result, the highway between Lelystad Noord and Lelystad was closed for hours. The two seriously injured people were taken to hospital.

During the accident, a truck and a passenger car collided. It appears the car crashed into the back of the truck. Photos show extensive damage to the car.

In addition to the police and ambulance, the fire brigade was also called. It is unclear whether he had to free people from the car or truck. The cause of the accident is also unknown.

Hours of salvage work
After the accident, salvage work was underway for a long time. The road was fully open again around 7:00 am.

A spokesperson for Rijkswaterstaat cannot say why it took hours to clear the highway. However, recovering a truck is always more difficult than recovering a car.

During the closure, motorists were advised to drive via Zwolle and Amersfoort on the N50, A28 and A1. This does mean that motorists were on the road a lot longer. Traffic jams arose on the highway and on roads in the area.
