A truck got stuck under a viaduct in Eindhoven this afternoon. The driver was injured. He was trapped and was freed from the car by the fire brigade.
The accident was at the entrance to the site of truck manufacturer DAF. According to Omroep Brabant, the truck driver had left the lifting arms up.
When the truck drove under the overpass, the arms collided with the underside. The front of the truck then shot up, trapping the driver in the cab.
Remove door
To free the driver, the fire brigade had to cut off the door of the truck. According to Omroep Brabant, the trucker was then able to get out of the cab himself. He suffered head injuries and was taken to hospital for evaluation.
In addition to the police, fire brigade and ambulances, an air ambulance was also called. DAF came to the rescue with a forklift, because the fire brigade equipment was insufficient. The fire brigade normally uses metal bridges to work at the height of a truck cab, but they were not high enough.
