This Easter weekend, March 28 to 31, the European Baton Twirling Championship took place in Eindhoven. 555 participants from 12 countries competed for European gold in various age categories and in various events. The soloists managed to conquer 7 places in the final. In this field of participants this was a very good achievement. The girls have shown what they can do. Each and every one of them could be satisfied with their performance. Isabel van der Plas twirled herself to first place in all three of her events, becoming a three-time European Youth Champion. An unprecedented achievement!
The 3 participating KNA teams also managed to qualify for the final after a very good preliminary round. This year’s newly formed junior dance team rocked the floor with their exciting fashion show. This dazzling, fresh performance was rewarded with BRONZE.
The senior twirl team performed well in the final and also managed to obtain BRONZE. This team was still junior last year and had to hold its own among the seniors this year. That worked very well in this very strong field of participants. The same senior team also competed in the dancetwirl section. The team rose above itself in the final.
The theme of the dance was passing on the knowledge, experience and motivation of a top athlete who will coach a new generation of athletes. Together with coach Sabina Hoogendijk, who made her return to the competition floor for this dance, the team brought many supporters to tears. The jury also appreciated the performance and made the senior dance team EUROPEAN CHAMPION.
