BREDA – The Breda Jazz Festival today announced the program for the upcoming edition. This 52nd edition will take place from May 9 to 12. Ticket sales for the indoor concerts also started today. “We are ready again,” said chairman Hanneke Griffioen.

Traditionally, the organization has announced the program for the Breda Jazz Festival today, on Easter Monday. This 52nd edition will take place during the Ascension weekend from 9 to 12 May in the city center of Breda. More than 200 performances will take place during the four-day festival, spread over 24 stages. These performances are free, with the exception of a number of special indoor concerts for which visitors must purchase a ticket. Ticket sales for these indoor concerts also started today.

New stages

This year the Breda Jazz Festival has expanded with two new stages on the Kasteelplein. “This fulfills a long-cherished wish to actively involve this square in the festival again,” says chairman Hanneke Griffioen. There will be a dance floor at the Visser stage on the northern side of Kasteelplein. “Dancers can come here and swing all day long,” says Griffioen. This stage is provided by the Spinola bar, which will also provide the decoration. In addition, the Kasteelplein Zuid Podium will be located next to the equestrian statue of King Stadtholder Willem III. According to the organization, this stage will have a Breda character.

Known parts

In addition to the new stages, well-known parts of the Breda Jazz Festival will also return. This year, the pluutjes parade for children will again be organized on Friday morning and the Duo Special concert will take place in De Avenue, where musicians are asked by the program council of the Breda Jazz Festival on Friday night to perform in duos on Saturday morning. This year the Festival Surprise Bands also return. During this concert, soloists play with each other in varying compositions to surprise the audience, and sometimes also each other. “The fixed point is of course the opening on Thursday, May 9 at 1:00 PM, on the Grote Markt in Breda,” says Griffioen.
