A Belize food truck departed on Tuesday for a tour of northern Taiwan, offering specialties from the Central American nation free of charge.

The best way to win over someone’s heart is through their stomach, Belizean Ambassador Candice Pitts told a launch event at the Taipei Children’s Amusement Park.

This year’s offerings are different from previous editions, featuring East-West fusion dishes, Pitts said.

For instance, the popular Marie Sharp’s hot sauce made from bell pepper, pineapple and other fruits pairs perfectly with Taiwanese-style fried noodles, she said.

Apart from the fried noodles with hot sauce, the food truck is to also serve pancakes with Belizean chocolate sauce and cocoa berry tea.

From now until May 12, the truck is to visit parks and markets around northern Taiwan on the weekends, and schools and sporting venues during weekdays.

Visitors who like the Embassy of Belize Facebook or Instagram account can receive food free of charge, as supplies last.

In addition, 10 people at every stop are to receive a small gift, the Central America Trade Office said.
