The court in Haarlem has imposed a TBS measure on 22-year-old NO for an attempted murder in the Hema in Wormer. On August 3 last year, O. stabbed a store cashier several times in her face, neck and upper body.
The girl was hit in the neck and spine, among other things. Two weeks ago, the public prosecutor called it ‘a miracle of God’ that the victim survived the stabbing.
Initially, O. was only suspected of attempted manslaughter, but she told the police that she had been planning to kill the department store cashier for much longer. “I actually wanted to stab her to death, but you came too fast,” she said during her police interrogation. That is why the Haarlem court, like the public prosecutor, found that there was an attempted murder.
Psychological complaints
The court, like the Public Prosecution Service (OM), rules that the 22-year-old suspect cannot be held responsible for the stabbing. O. has various severe psychological complaints, including schizophrenia, psychoses and post-traumatic stress disorder. As a result, she developed a kind of morbid obsession with Hema, until she was banned from shopping.

The cashier said he had a premonition for months that “something terrible was going to happen.” “My life will never be the same again,” she said in her victim impact statement. O.’s lawyer stated during the trial that the 22-year-old suspect tried seven times to contact emergency services, but was rejected each time.
O. must pay the victim compensation of 67,000 euros, of which 40,000 euros in damages.
