Every year, the Dutch Football Practice Masters Union (VVON) nominates three trainers in the six districts. To be eligible for a VVON Award, a head coach must work in amateur football at UEFA A level, i.e. first division or higher. Trainers who are affiliated with the union can then vote, after which the winner per district will be selected on Friday, May 10 during the national trainers’ conference in the PEC Zwolle stadium.

In South I, RBC trainer Mark Klippel is one of the nominees. The champion and losing quarter-finalist in the district cup will compete against colleagues Dennis de Nooijer and Maurice Verbunt in the final. De Nooijer is six points clear of Goes in the fourth division with four games to go. Verbunt is competing with Blauw Geel’38 for third place in the third division, which entitles them to play-offs to the second division at the end of the season.

The jury praises Klippel for his principles as a coach, such as bringing fun to football that he tries to bring back at every level. “His team plays with a lot of energy and high intensity, both offensively and defensively. Mark is quite calm in his coaching. He tries to coach players with short, clear instructions. In times of adversity he sticks to his football ideas.”

He also receives praise for his cooperation with the Under-23s and for his input into the policy of the football academy. On May 10 it will be announced who will succeed Nemelaer trainer Theo van Geffen as the best trainer in South I.

One West Brabant trainer has been nominated to succeed Theo van Geffen:

South 1: Mark Klippel (RBC)Dennis de Nooijer (Goes), Maurice Verbunt (Blauw Geel’38).

South 2: Maurice Hendriks (Valkenswaard), Raymond Koenraadt (Mierlo-Hout), Jan Pruijn (Volharding).
