Murder
The murder was prompted by a custody battle between Carter and Webb over Alex. After the daughter decided to move in with her mother, both daughter and mother disappeared.
The case remained unsolved for 24 years, despite high FBI rewards for tipsters. Webb denied having anything to do with the case all along. During one of the last searches, he claimed to have dementia and not to know anymore. However, during the searches, a bullet was found in the wall of his daughter’s bedroom.
Deathbed
In October 2023, the American man was officially charged with the murder. At the beginning of this month, he indeed admitted to killing his ex-wife and their daughter. He allegedly shot the woman after a discussion about money and then shot her daughter so that there would be no witnesses.
Webb buried the bodies in his garden, where they were indeed found last Monday. The perpetrator had just died in hospital.
