Commemoration of Peace and Freedom in Overhoven can be followed live online

--

Tomorrow, Sunday April 28, a memorial service will take place at 11:00 am in the Heilig Hartkerk in Sittard in the context of ’80 years of freedom’.

During this service, we remember the millions of people from all countries who gave their lives during the wars, for all victims of war violence, unfairness and abuse of power, for all refugees and people living in fear and oppression.

The service is graced by a mixed occasional choir, in which children from the Parochial Youth Choir, among others, sing. Children and young people also participate in this commemoration. In particular, all victims of the Second World War are commemorated. The current world situation is also discussed.

For those who cannot be present in church: The celebration can also be followed via the livestream www.parochieoverhoven.jouwweb.nl/livestream.

Following the memorial service, while the church’s heavy bell is ringing, a flower arrangement will be laid at the Village Cross and at the grave of British Soldier John Alexander Devine at the Sittard General Cemetery, adopted by the children’s choir. You are also cordially invited to this. The laying of flowers is provided by a delegation from our children’s choir and the altar boys.
