Three exhibitions for the price of one during Europe Day: “Celebrating a special day in style” (Mechelen)

In celebration of Europe Day and Construct Europe, you can visit three exhibitions for the price of one on Thursday, May 9. With an entrance ticket you can go to exhibitions that highlight Europe in the Hof van Busleyden, the Cultural Center and the Toy Museum.

“In light of the Construct Europe city festival, there are currently three exhibitions in our city, each in their own way representing European cooperation,” says Kristof Calvo (For Mechelen), chairman of Mechelen Feest. “With this unique promotion we want to encourage Mechelen residents and other visitors to visit them together at least once. For the price of one exhibition, you can admire all three exhibitions.”

Through the exhibition ‘Knights of the Golden Fleece’ in the Hof van Busleyden Museum you will learn how Mechelen was host to perhaps one of the first European political alliances. Lieven Blancquaert exhibits photo and video material from her journey through Europe in the Cultural Center and via PlayZone Europe in the Toy Museum you can discover which toys were created in the various Member States.

“We want to celebrate May 9, Europe Day, in style,” say Calvo and Alderman for Culture Björn Siffer (For Mechelen). “This special ticket offers a unique opportunity to discover Europe through art and culture. With this campaign we want to make our cultural offering and Construct Europe more accessible. Moreover, it is Ascension Day and many people have the day off. So there is no excuse not to come.”
