Stichting Natuurvrienden Capelle aan den IJssel (SNC) is looking for volunteers who can help with maintenance in the Schollebos. We are looking for people who want to help combat Giant Hogweed and maintain the Butterfly Garden.

On Saturday, May 4, the foundation wants to tackle the rampant hogweed in a number of places in the Schollebos. The plants are cut off and mowed. Maintenance will be carried out on the Butterfly Garden on Saturday, May 11. The foundation then wants to remove blackberries, hedge bindweed (“piepotjes”) and reeds. Afterwards, have a drink at the Pannenkoekenhuis.

Volunteers wanted

Many hands make light work, as the saying goes. The help of volunteers is also greatly appreciated with these jobs. People who want to help are asked to email [email protected].

On both Saturdays we gather at the Pannenkoekenhuis (Bermweg 133) and the group leaves at 1 p.m. To combat hogweed, it is strongly recommended to wear long trousers and outer clothing with long sleeves. Also wear sturdy shoes and gardening gloves.

It will not take place in bad weather. The foundation will then send an email to the registered volunteers at least one hour in advance.
