The two best tested induction hobs differ in price by about 2500 euros | Living

--

Consumers AssociationSay goodbye to gas and opt for a sleek kitchen without an extractor hood? These are the best induction hobs with extraction according to the Consumers’ Association.

Do you cook with gas, but want to get rid of it? Then an induction hob is the best alternative. If you do not have room for an extractor hood or would prefer not to, then an induction hob with extractor is the best solution.

With an induction hob with extractor, the extractor system is built into the hob. This sucks the cooking fumes downwards. That is why they are also called downdraft induction hobs.

Cooking on induction has many advantages. Induction is the safest, most efficient and fastest cooking system. It is cleaner than cooking on gas. The plates are easy to clean. Please note that your pans must be suitable for induction and have a higher purchase price.

The Consumers’ Association tests induction hobs with extraction for, among other things, energy consumption, noise and cleaning. A total of 131 induction hobs were tested, 25 of which with extraction. A Siemens model is Best in Test, a Bora hob is a cheaper alternative. The prices are very unclear. That’s why there is no Best Buy.

Best in Test: Siemens EX807NX68E

Cooking, baking, simmering: this hob from Siemens does it all well. Not only does the hob do exactly what it is supposed to do, the extractor also works fine. Just like the flexible cooking zones. These are separate zones that you can also link into 1 large zone. It is also one of the most economical plates in the test.

Cooking vapors and grease splashes are no problem for the extraction of the Siemens EX807NX68E. And the cooking zones also work well, in any setting you want. The two flexible cooking zones also function well. This is not the case with every induction hob.

You can connect this hob to the Siemens Home-Connect platform, which allows you to control your Siemens equipment via an app. The hob is available in a version with and a version without a frame on the side.

Although this is a good induction hob with extractor, it also has some drawbacks. It makes quite a lot of noise and the hob also gets hot outside the cooking zones. At 5000 euros it is expensive.

This Bora hob costs half of what the Best in the Test costs, scores slightly less, but is still an excellent induction hob with extractor. In terms of cooking and baking performance it is not a high flyer, but good enough.

The extractor absorbs all grease splashes, so using all cooking zones at the same time is no problem. Not even with large pans. Odors in your kitchen become noticeably less when you turn on the recirculation mode.

The operation of the cooking zones is clear and easy. Boiling a large pan of water works fine. You can simmer your meat or vegetables on the smaller ‘burners’.

The disadvantage of this Bora is that the hob is difficult to clean. After the cooking tests, stubborn stains remained. But because these tests are quite extreme, this does not necessarily mean that this also happens in daily practice.

In this section we write weekly about household and technological appliances that have been tested by the Consumers’ Association. This is a collaboration between the independent editors of this site and the Consumers’ Association.

The Consumers’ Association tests thousands of products every year, together with qualified technicians in specialized laboratories at home and abroad. The products being tested are store-bought, so they are not pre-manipulated by manufacturers.

New models are tested as soon as possible after introduction. How fast that is varies per product. The Best in Test is the product with the best test rating. This could also be an older model, because a newer model is not always better. The Best Buy is the product with the best price-quality ratio.

The stated price of a product is the lowest current retail price as far as known to the Consumers’ Association. But prices may vary per day. If no recent retail price is known, the target price is mentioned.
