Podcast The CaseIn a new residential area in Zuidland, a village near Spijkenisse, orange flags hang on the street. The Football World Cup in Qatar is in full swing. But in that same street things go completely wrong when one of the residents is shot dead.

That resident is Danny, who is with Bianca. Danny has no clean criminal record: he has even been to prison for an illegal steroids trade. During the period that he is in prison, his neighbor Serge B. has an argument with his wife. As a result, the two neighbors are temporarily alone. The women see each other a lot during that period. There are even intimate moments, but later Serge and his wife reunite.

When Danny gets out of jail again, he is not happy with the contacts. Serge B. and his wife report threats. The tension between the two couples continues to increase, until that fateful day in November 2022: suddenly Danny lies dead on the street. Soon a man is arrested; he is on the run and has a gun in his car. The shooter’s phone contains many messages from Serge B.: is he the client?

Crime reporter Eric Oosterom from AD Rotterdams Dagblad follows the case: “Bianca said that since Danny’s death she has been on a survival mode. She has had many tattoos in memory of her husband, including a lightning bolt on her temple.”
