Cat accidentally sent with return shipment

The owners were very happy when they could hold their cat in their arms again.

Imagine: your cat jumped into a box and was accidentally sent in the mail. It sounds unlikely, but it really happened to a couple from the American state of Utah. The cat was found six days later in a warehouse in California, hundreds of miles from her home in Utah.

Even though the animal had not had water or food for days, the postal employee found her in relatively good health.

Cat disappeared

The postal employee immediately took action and took the animal to a veterinarian in Los Angeles. Fortunately, the cat turned out to have a microchip, after which the owners could be traced.

The owners tell their story to local media. “At first I didn’t believe her and thought it was a joke,” says Carrie Clark KSLTV. “I ran to tell my husband that Galena had been found and we realized that she must have jumped into an oversized box that we had shipped last Wednesday,” continues Clark. “The box was a ‘try before you buy’, and filled with steel-toed work boots.”

Clark didn’t have to think long: she and her husband boarded a plane to Los Angeles as quickly as possible. There they could finally embrace their cat, Galena, again. “When I held my cat back in my arms, she stopped shaking and immediately calmed down,” says Clark.

Open in box

A crack in the box ultimately saved cat Galena. This allowed her to continue breathing. And the weather cooperated, because because it was not too cold or too hot, Galena was able to maintain a good temperature. “Despite being thinner and slightly dehydrated, her blood tests were completely normal and she was completely unharmed.”
