According to NH weatherman Jan Visser, the sun is shining today after a night full of thunder: “In one part of the country the thunder was quite spectacular.” Lightning even struck in Nederhorst den Berg roof of several homes. A fire started, but no one was injured.

The storm also brought a lot of rain, with 11 millimeters in Edam and Purmerend. According to Visser, that is ‘quite decent’. The showers are now hanging above the sea and are only active in the north of the country. As a result, they can no longer reach the province today.

First official day of summer

After rain comes sunshine, as it turns out again today. Visser: “Temperatures can rise to 25 degrees throughout the province.”

And that is quite special, says Visser. “If 28 degrees are measured at De Bilt today, that will only be the third time ever.” This makes today officially the first national summer day of the year.

On Thursday and Friday the temperature will remain around 25 degrees, with some wind and rain here and there. From the weekend onwards the temperature will drop significantly again to 15 degrees.
