Three activities are planned in May: On Wednesday, May 15, from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM, an interactive stall will be set up in the Hofpark in Wateringen. Information will be provided here about the trees in Westland, with special attention to which trees are suitable for gardens or balconies. The central question is: Which tree suits me? On Monday, May 20 (Whit Monday), from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, an excursion will take place in the Hofpark in Wateringen. The theme of this excursion is: How do trees respond to their environment and to damage? There is room for 20 participants. Registration is required via email:[email protected]. After registration, participants will receive a confirmation with further details.
Tokt slot calls on Natural Westland residents to report their favorite tree. This can be done by sending a photo of the tree [email protected], accompanied by a story, poem, photo, song, drawing or something else. The location of the tree in Westland should also be stated. These entries have a chance to be chosen as a monthly winner, with the winner receiving a gift and the tree being published in the media.
These activities are part of the project ‘Westland trees are worth their weight in gold’, carried out by Natuur Westland (made possible by the municipality of Westland). The project includes excursions, bicycle tours, the election of the Tree of the Month and information stalls. A brochure will also be published.
