PSV were crowned national champions on Sunday afternoon. Things did not go as convincingly against Sparta Rotterdam as in the rest of the season, and analyst Marciano Vink also noticed this.

‘The ease with which they play football was not visible today. I didn’t expect that, I thought it would be easier, although it never really happened for Sparta. PSV could have made it easier for themselves. Because I thought it was nice to see how they can impose their will on opponents this season,” Vink said at ESPN. He particularly liked Joey Veerman, and he gave national coach Ronald Koeman a tip towards the European Championship.

‘This team started to play easier and better football throughout the season. Veerman is one of the players who reached his level even today, I thought he really excelled this season. I think he has cleared away all doubts this season. I hope Ronald Koeman will give it a try with him next to Frenkie de Jong.’

Danny Koevermans was also hired by ESPN, the ex-striker was especially enjoying himself. His thoughts drifted back to 2008, when he himself became champion with PSV. ‘I think it’s wonderful to stand here and experience this, an excellent afternoon. The crowning glory of the season. The fans here are phenomenal, they stay in the stands so the players can have their own celebration. I thought back to when I became champion with PSV, even though that was in an away match.’
