For many cycling enthusiasts and professionals, virtual cycling is now the way to maintain fitness during the winter months. But that will become a lot more expensive for many now that the popular Zwift has raised its price.

There are several platforms on the market – think of Rouvy, MyWhoosh and FulGaz – but Zwift is by far the most used. It offers an arsenal of routes (in different worlds), group activities, competitions, training plans, workouts… Moreover, you can start with basic equipment. In short: it’s popular.

But: it’s not free. And Zwift has now raised its prices. The company announced the price increase in an email to all users. A monthly subscription goes from 14.99 euros to 19.99 euros. If you choose to pay annually, from 149.99 euros to 199.99 euros. An increase of more than 30 percent.

“Despite rising inflation, we have worked hard to keep our prices the same since 2017,” it said. “Your contribution has allowed us to develop the platform and improve your experience on Zwift. We are proud of all the additional benefits that have been introduced since 2017 and that Zwifters now enjoy every day. From group training and flexible training plans to some of our newest features like the always-on group rides with Robo Pacers or the Climb Portal that takes you to iconic climbs from around the world. Zwifting has never been so good.”

The new prices will take effect from June 6. “The best is yet to come,” Zwift adds. A week ago, the company announced a number of new features, such as ‘My List’ and a new climb called ‘The Grade’. Earlier this year, the American platform fired 150 people to reduce costs and last summer it lost the organization of the UCI’s World Esports Championship to competitor MyWoosh.
