Three actors from a stunt performance in Toverland have been taken to hospital after an accident. The people fell during the Aqua Bellatores open-air show. Eyewitnesses report to Looopings that they fell off the stage due to a huge flood of water.
Normally, several buckets of water are poured over the set during the show. That effect forms the finale of the performance. Presumably this time all the water was accidentally released at the same time. It caused such a blow that the set was damaged and the actors fell several meters deep.
The accident occurred during the 1 p.m. performance. Aqua Bellatores was canceled for the rest of the day. A spokesperson confirms that an incident has occurred. According to him, three actors received “on-site medical care”. “They were then taken to hospital by ambulance without any emergency.” Toverland does not yet know when the show can be performed again.
80,000 litres
Aqua Bellatores will premiere in 2023. This year they added a 65 meter long zipline. The decor, consisting of colorful harbor houses, was built by the Brabant company Create. Under the stage is a basin of 80,000 liters of water. The show technology is controlled from the balcony above the Mañana catering location.
Create director Bjorn Berkers said last year in the Looopings Podcast that it was exciting to see whether the construction could handle the amount of water. “We saw a number of videos during the test phase, when they threw all the bins down at the same time”. he said.
Tsunami
“Then a tsunami of water literally comes down. Then you think: if only this stays intact…” Ultimately, it was decided to tip the bins in phases. “If all the bins go down at the same time, I think everything will break in half. But as it is being used now, it is more than sturdy enough.”
