Talpa Network will have access to a selection of sports offerings from Viaplay’s portfolio and will broadcast this on the current SBS9, which will continue under the name Viaplay TV from April 5. In addition to Formula 1, darts from the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and football matches from the English Premier League and German Bundesliga, international series and films, as well as home-grown entertainment, will continue to be shown on Viaplay TV. The joint intention of Talpa Network and Viaplay Group is to increase the sports offering on Viaplay TV in the near future.

Joost Brakel, CEO of Talpa Network: “We are fully committed to our open media strategy and this means that we constantly look in the market for opportunities to collaborate with attractive partners. The partnership with Viaplay is illustrative of this, as we have previously entered into successful alliances with RetailMedia. One and BBC First. Viaplay and Talpa Network intend to broaden and deepen the partnership in the near future, and are pleased to be able to offer these immensely popular sports to our viewers.”

Roger Lodewick, CEO Viaplay Netherlands: “We are very happy with this new partnership with Talpa Network. Talpa Network has an enormous reach and through this collaboration we can appeal to a wide audience and introduce them to Viaplay and the great sports offering that we offer on our streaming service.”

Viaplay TV will broadcast Formula 1 races, among other things. The Japanese GP can even be seen in its entirety on the new channel next Sunday, April 7. But that won’t be live. The broadcast starts at 1 p.m., seven hours later than the race actually starts. In the evening, Viaplay TV concludes with a summary of the race. Darts from the Premier League – Birmingham (April 11, 8 p.m.) and Rotterdam (April 18, 8 p.m.) – are also on the program in April. As well as live Premier League matches: Fulham – Newcastle United (April 6, 4:00 PM), Tottenham Hotspur – Nottingham Forest (April 8, 8:30 PM), Manchester City – Luton Town (April 13, 3:30 PM) and Chelsea – Everton (15 April, 8:30 PM).

In the near future, we will be working on further shaping the profile of the new Viaplay TV channel. All Viaplay sports content shown on Viaplay TV will remain fully available on Viaplay.
