Homeworld 3

May 13 – PC

In Homeworld 3, just like in its predecessors, you engage in gigantic space battles with your enemies. This real-time strategy series set in space has been around for a while. The original was released in 1999. The third game in the series started a few years ago as a crowdfunding project, but was postponed several times. The game was originally planned for release in 2022, but was subsequently delayed several times. Homeworld 3 comes with a brand new War Games mode, which is in fact a roguelike mode combined with the RTS gameplay that we are used to from the Homeworld games. The game also has an online co-op mode for three players.

The Rogue Prince of Persia (early access)

May 14 – PC

As if one Prince of Persia game wasn’t enough this year, we’re getting another one this month! However, The Rogue Prince of Persia will only be released in early access for the time being, which means that the game is not completely finished for the time being. New levels, enemies and weapons will be added in the coming months. The Rogue Prince of Persia is a roguelite game, which means that you keep certain skills and upgrades after you die. However, you always have to start at the beginning, with the aim of reaching the end of the level in one go. The Rogue Prince of Persia is being developed by Evil Empire, the studio that was brought in after the release of Dead Cells to develop new content for that game. As with Dead Cells, fast-paced platforming is at the heart of this new Prince of Persia title. The goal of the game is simple: save Persia from a Hun invasion. You’ll need acrobatic moves for this, but anyone who still has The Lost Crown fresh in their memory will have them!

Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut

May 16 – PC

Ghost of Tsushima was released in 2020 for the PlayStation 4 and a year later the Director’s Cut was released for PlayStation 5. Now it’s time for the PC release, allowing the breathtaking game to finally shine on even stronger hardware. The PC version of Ghost of Tsushima provides support for ultrawide monitors, upscaling technologies such as Nvidia DLSS 3, AMD FSR 3 and DualSense support with haptic feedback.

Ghost of Tsushima is an open world game from Sucker Punch Productions. The game is set in 1274 Japan during the first Mongol invasion of Japan. You play as Jin Sakai, one of the last remaining samurai in the battle against the Mongol Empire. In the included expansion, you can explore a new area called Iki Island, or take on various challenges with some friends in the multiplayer mode Ghost of Tsushima: Legends.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2

May 21 – Xbox Series X and S and PC

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, released in 2017, made a big impression on players. The game is mainly distinguished by the way in which it portrays the psychoses that the main character Senua suffers from. The game tells a gripping story with beautiful graphics. Sequel Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 promises to do just that. In Hellblade 2, Senua returns in a ruthless survival journey through the mythical world of Viking Iceland.

Developer Ninja Theory has had seven years to turn the game into an impressive experience, with quality over quantity. It looks like you can complete Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 in less than ten hours. The game costs 49.99 euros and has been on Game Pass from day one. Look at here a trailer for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

May 23 – Nintendo Switch

Over the years, many remasters and remakes of old classics have been released for the Nintendo Switch. The hybrid console is extremely popular, meaning these older games reach more people than ever. Now it’s the turn of the GameCube classic Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. It’s been twenty years since the original came out, so the game could use a graphical overhaul. In The Thousand-Year Door, players join Mario and his friends on an adventure to discover the legendary treasure behind the Millennium Gate. The characters made entirely of paper provide a unique art style in a game that relies on special locations and humor.

Multiversus

May 28 – PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One and PC

Last year, a beta version of the free-to-play fighter Multiversus was already playable, which of course generated a lot of feedback. Developer Player First Games has been working hard on this, finally releasing the full version of the arena fighter at the end of this month. Multiversus pits players against the most iconic Warner Bros. stars online through gameplay reminiscent of the Super Smash Bros. games. The star cast is very varied – from Bugs Bunny, Harley Quinn, Batman and Superman to Arya Stark from Game of Thrones. The full release brings several new playable characters, although it is not yet known exactly which ones. The characters that were previously in the game have also been given new moves. Furthermore, new arenas are being added and the netcode has been improved.

In an official update from the developer the new features are discussed.

F1 24

May 31 – PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, Xbox One and PC

The F1 series has several highs and lows. For example, F1 22 was poorly received because of the way the car handled, but F1 23 made huge strides in that area, making the game much more highly regarded. Now it remains to be seen whether Codemasters can improve the gameplay again with F1 24. There are a number of new features this release brings, although their impact remains to be seen. In addition to a new career mode and some updates to existing circuits, F1 24 has little to distinguish itself from its predecessor at first glance. There is a new feature called EA Sports Dynamic Handlingwhich should provide a more realistic feeling while racing.
