Bethesda has announced a new update for Starfield. The game will feature detailed surface maps, difficulty adjustment options, and a 60fps mode for Xbox Series X users. The update will roll out on May 15, but can be tested now via Steam.

Bethesda writes in a blog post that the surface maps will contain more details. The in-game maps will display the properties of a certain landscape, but also contain markers that should make it easier for players to find their way around the game world.

Bethesda is also making it possible to adjust some gameplay elements in Starfield via the update. For example, gamers can choose to adjust the in-game weight of ammunition, access their spaceship’s cargo bay from anywhere in the game, or stop the game from automatically saving when the character goes to sleep. After installing the update, it will also be possible for players to extensively customize the interior of a spaceship.

Gamers playing the game on an Xbox Series uncapped play fps. According to Bethesda, the latter option is suitable for VRR displays. Gamers who do not have such a screen can choose between 30fps and 60fps. Bethesda is also adding two graphics modes to the game: a Visuals and Performance mode. In the first mode, the game strives for the highest possible resolution and the most detailed graphic effects possible.

The new update also adds some improvements, according to the developer. Bethesda has added an option to the New Game Plus mode that allows players to customize their character again at the start of the mode. The developer reports that the update will be rolled out on May 15. The update can currently also be tested via Steam beta.
