PC players of Helldivers 2 will be required to link their Steam account to a PlayStation Network account by June 4 in order to play the game. Until now this was optional due to technical problems.

In a blog post on Steam, Arrowhead Studios reports that new players will be required to link their accounts from May 6. The first existing users will be required to do this from May 30. By June 4, everyone must have linked accounts to continue playing.

However, this could pose a problem for certain players. PSN is not officially available in many countries, including Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and almost all African countries. While it is possible to create an account in these countries, Sony states in its terms of service that it may ban players who have provided incorrect information.

According to the game developer, the use of a PSN account should protect gamers because players who exhibit misconduct can be banned. Banned users can also appeal via the PSN network.
