Part 5 in the Historical Series Roderwolde under the title: The establishment of the Woldzigt mill in Roderwolde will be published on Saturday April 20

The book was written by Mark Aukema, great-great-grandson of Egbert Floris Aukema from Roderwolde. In 1852, after years of preparation, an industrial oil mill was opened on the initiative of two enterprising farmers from Roderwolde, Egbert Floris Aukema and Sikke Jans Datema. The permit to mill grain came a short time later. They were supported in their construction plans and in their financing by a wealthy entrepreneur from Harlingen.

Mark Aukema has written a story about this history based on unknown documents from the family archive. In particular, the hitherto underexposed role of a wealthy Frisian family in the Rowolmer adventure is discussed in detail. In addition, the book offers an insight into the social network of the residents of Roderwolde in the 19th century, their way of life and the mutual family connections.

The presentation of the book will be on the forecourt of the Woldzigt mill in Roderwolde on Saturday, April 20 at 4 p.m. as part of the season opening of the Woldzigt mill. Interested parties are very welcome.

If you pre-register until April 20, the book costs €12.50, after which it costs €15.00 in the bookstore. Ordered copies can be collected on April 20 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Woldzigt mill in Roderwolde.
